While beach towns like Lake Anna, Hatteras Island and Tampa in the USA have median home prices above $350,000, there are inexpensive coastal destinations for retirees outside the USA, places like Phuket, Tulum, Valencia and Mazatlan offer much more affordable square meter pricing.

Not a bad article. No idea how accurate the Sq/M pricing is, but based on my travels, the order of the list in terms of comparative pricing is not far off.
