Misleading Retirement Location Lists

Misleading Retirement Location Lists Necessitate Personal Research

Every year we are bombarded by lists of the “best places to retire abroad”, compiled by different publications. They claim to consider factors like cost of living, healthcare, and climate.

However, the truth about these lists varies, sometimes being outright wrong. For instance, retiring to New Zealand requires a hefty investment, while Australia stopped issuing retirement visas in 2018. Similarly, Mexico has high income requirements for permanent residency etc etc etc.

Therefore, prospective retirees should treat such lists as general pointers and conduct their own thorough research, including personal affordability and preferred lifestyles.

My Take…

Most of these lists are clickbait articles, with very few based on actual “boots on the ground” reality. You gotta do your own due diligence, dive into YouTube and Facebook Groups, both great guides for just about every destination on the planet.
