L.A. Businesswoman Finds New Life in Albania

Former Los Angeles business owner Cheryl Orlov, 55, packed up her life in 2023 to move to Albania, and she hasn’t looked back.

After decades of running a furniture company and living minutes from the beach, Orlov felt the pull of wanderlust. Inspired by a podcast, she scouted Albania and instantly felt at home in Tirana.

Now, she enjoys low living costs, rich culture, and easier access to global travel. “I didn’t know how stressed I was until I left,” she says. Though Albania may not be forever, for now, Orlov is living her dream abroad, and loving every minute of it.
