Newsroom chatter turned to the new year as Kathleen Peddicord, founding publisher of Live and Invest Overseas, shared her first reflections of 2026. After a mountain escape in Chamonix with family, she returned to Paris refreshed and ready to help others chase their own adventure abroad. She reminded her readers that the year’s namesake, Janus, the Roman god with two faces, represents both reflection and forward motion, and now’s the time for the latter.
From her years of globe-trotting and advising soon-to-be expats, Peddicord laid out her “seven truths” for would-be overseas retirees. Her message? Moving abroad is more affordable than most imagine, the best moment to start is always now, and it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Whether retiring full-time, testing a second base, or balancing work remotely, anyone can take the leap.
My Take…
Peddicord dropped her gospel truths for wannabe retiree’s. It’s cheaper than you think, stop overthinking, and yes, you can half‑commit.
Pick a country, pick a few towns/cities and go explore. Give yourself at least 12-24 months before committing. The rest will work it’s sdelf out.
