Vincent Barone always had a feeling he’d end up in Italy. When he first touched down in Sardinia with his parents, the island just seemed to click. The warm air, the rhythm of daily life, the familiar language, it all lined up perfectly. After years in New Jersey’s chill and expense, he figured it was time for something new. With his job in finance allowing remote work and his eligibility for Italian citizenship through family roots, the decision started to make sense.
By July 2022, Vincent and his parents, Silvio and Carmela, made the leap. They settled in Alghero, a coastal city full of medieval charm and sea views that stretch forever. It wasn’t exactly where they first planned to land, but it fit. The family lives just minutes apart, soaking up the slower rhythm and walkable streets.
Vincent admits the move had an adjustment period, getting to know people, finding a place, navigating paperwork, but patience paid off. Four years later, he’s built a circle of friends and found his pace. “Sardinia has almost everything, mountains, sea, space,” he says. For him, it’s more than a relocation. It’s home.
My Take…
Not on my personal watch list, but looks very cool.
Italy is popular with Americans. especially with those with family connections.
East Boston anyone 🙂
