According to a report by US News & World Report, Greece is among the top ten countries for a comfortable retirement, ranking above economies like Japan and the United States.
The assessment was based on factors such as affordability, climate, healthcare, and respect for property rights.
Despite economic instability and a rapidly aging population, Greece’s appeal lies in its lower cost of living, landscapes, and renowned cuisine.
However, the country faces challenges such as declining birth rates and population, which could affect future rankings.
My Take…
I have never had Greece on my personal retirement radar, it just doesn’t fit in with what I envisage as a great retirement destination.
But… I have no doubt it pushes plenty of buttons for some others and is ranked 9th out of 87 countries, based on 17,000 respondents to the survey. Not bad!
