Scott & Liza’s First Year of Nomadic Retirement

Scott And Liza’s First Year Of Nomadic Retirement

Scott and Liza just wrapped up their first full year living out of suitcases, and they’re being honest about how it actually went.

Turns out planning a nomadic retirement sounds a lot cleaner on paper than it plays out in real life. The couple talked through the daily grind of figuring out laundry in new cities, hunting for decent wifi, and rebuilding a routine every few weeks in a different country.

Flexibility came up again and again. Flights get cancelled, apartments don’t match the photos, and plans that seemed solid three months out often fell apart within days. Scott and Liza said they learned to hold their schedules loosely instead of locking things in too far ahead.

They also spoke about the tradeoffs nobody really warns you about. Fewer possessions meant more freedom but also more decisions, every single day, about small things most people at home never think twice about.

By the end of the conversation, both agreed the lifestyle isn’t for everyone. But for them, the mess and unpredictability turned out to be part of the appeal, not something to avoid.

My Take…

One year, no forwarding address, and Scott and Liza are done pretending it's a postcard. Reality: wifi hunts, mystery laundromats, plans dying faster than a MySpace page. Flexibility became their whole personality. Fewer belongings, sure, but infinite tiny decisions daily. Verdict? Not for everyone. They're weirdly into the chaos anyway.
