Norm, 72, has been a full time nomad since 2019, hitting 45 countries along the way. These days he calls Da Nang, Vietnam home, and he says it might be his favorite stop yet.
His monthly spend comes out to about $2,261. That covers $520 rent, plus utilities, food, transportation, entertainment, and even the occasional massage. For comparison, that’s less than the $2,300 he used to pay for rent alone back in California.
A typical day starts with a sunrise walk on the beach, then a stroll through the city’s expat friendly streets before breakfast and a ride along Vietnam’s coastline.
Money isn’t the whole story though. Norm points to the warm weather, the food, the beaches, and the laid back pace as the real reasons he keeps coming back.
My Take…
Cheaper than his old California rent alone. Sunrise beach walks, noodle breakfasts, zero spreadsheet anxiety. Basically Cheers, but with motorbikes and better weather.
