Boquete’s Rise as Panama’s Premier Expat Haven

Boquete’s Rise As Panama’s Premier Expat Haven

The story goes that Kathleen Peddicord spotted Boquete’s potential long before the rest of the world caught on. Back in 2000, it was just a sleepy mountain town in Panama’s Chiriquí Province. She called it, the perfect spot for retirees, and she wasn’t wrong.

Two decades later, Boquete hums with cafés, markets, and mountain views that lure expats from across the globe. Around 25,000 people now call it home, drawn by its easy pace, mild climate, and neighbourly vibe.

Expats can grab a coffee, hit the trails, and still stroll home feeling safe. Boquete’s boom isn’t slowing anytime soon.

My Take…

This looks like just my type of small town. Pity Panama is not on my personal retirement destination list.
