Looking to slow things down somewhere scenic and soulful? Meet Pátzcuaro.
Tucked into Michoacán’s forested highlands and perched beside a lake, this town blends colonial beauty with indigenous Purépecha roots.
The cost of living? Lower than big expat hubs.
Internet? Solid.
Housing? Historic charm, just act fast.
It’s cool year-round, healthcare’s decent, and Morelia’s just a short drive for city needs. It’s off the expat radar (for now), which makes Pátzcuaro a hidden gem for retirement, remote work, or simply a lifestyle reset.
Bonus: Day of the Dead here is legendary.
My Take…
I’m right into the smaller of the off-the-beaten-track places.
The downside for many, you better have decent Spanish language skills to survive.
