The Spanish Congress of Deputies voted to abolish the Golden Visa program, a decision that overrides the Senate’s previous veto.
The proposal faced opposition due to concerns about legislative technique, planning, and potential legal confusion.
Critics, notably the Popular Party, also accused it of being harmful to citizens and poorly structured. Despite this, the proposal moved forward after achieving an absolute majority.
The Golden Visa program, which saw 780 visas granted this year with an average investment of €657,204 each, is set to end after official publication.
My Take…
I personally don’t see the issue with Golden Visas. They bring people with money into a country and those people usually spend some of their wealth, pay tax, use good and services etc in said country.
