Canadians Eye Top Global Destinations For Retirement

According to a new report from *International Living*, more Canadians are planning their golden years under sunnier skies. The magazine just released its 2026 Global Retirement Index, laying out the top countries for anyone dreaming of a new chapter abroad. The list weighs cost of living, healthcare, housing, climate, and visa options.

Leading the pack is Greece, praised for its affordability, cuisine, rich history, and friendly locals. Panama follows close behind with its low costs and generous retiree perks, while Costa Rica secures third place for its tropical beauty and reliable healthcare. Portugal and Mexico round out the top five, offering warm weather and welcoming communities.

Rounding out the top ten are Italy, France, Spain, Thailand, and Malaysia, each bringing its own mix of charm and value. The report describes Malaysia as a hub for affordable healthcare and modern convenience, while Spain earns high marks for its lifestyle and culture.

While Canada didn’t make the cut, the report offers plenty of inspiration. For those ready to trade snow boots for sandals, the next great adventure might just be a plane ticket away.

My Take…

Apparently, snow shovels are out and sunscreen’s in. Canada didn’t rank, no kidding. LOL!

I’ll confess, I could think of a lot better places to retire too, than living in Canada.

Haters… on your marks, let’s go!!! 🙂
